1. Safety comes before anything on this site
Winter travel on the routes described here carries a real risk of injury and death. Snowshoeing, crossing ice, travelling below avalanche terrain and entering backcountry areas are activities you undertake at your own risk. The reports on this site are informational only. They are not a safety certification, a guided itinerary, or a substitute for training, a current forecast, an up-to-date map, or your own judgement on the day.
You are responsible for checking current conditions, ice thickness, road and gate status, weather and avalanche forecasts, and for carrying appropriate equipment and knowing how to use it. Never rely on a report on this site as your only source of information.
2. Accuracy
Every report describes conditions recorded on a stated date. Conditions change quickly and without notice. We publish what we observed; we do not warrant that any route is currently passable, safe, or legally accessible. Distances, elevation figures and durations are our own measurements and will differ from yours.
3. No professional advice
Nothing on this site is professional advice — not medical, not legal, not land-management, not guiding. If you need any of those, engage a qualified professional in your jurisdiction. This site is not a medical or rescue service. In an emergency, contact the local emergency number.
4. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, caribou.top, its authors and its contributors are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential or punitive loss or damage arising from your use of this site or from any decision you make after reading it. This includes, without limitation, personal injury, loss of or damage to property, rescue costs, and costs of substitute travel arrangements.
5. Acceptable use
You may read, print and share the pages of this site for personal, non-commercial use. You may quote short extracts with a link back to the report. You may not republish whole reports, scrape the site to rebuild it elsewhere, or present our observations as your own. Automated bulk retrieval that degrades the service for other readers is not permitted.
6. Intellectual property
The text, the contour illustrations, the design system and the site code are ours or are used with permission. The names of parks, trails, and public land management agencies are used descriptively and remain the property of their owners. Where a report references a third-party map, forecast or bulletin, that source is named in the report.
7. Third-party links
We link to park authorities, forecasting services and other reference sources. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, their availability, or their privacy practices.
8. Advertising
This site carries advertising, including Google AdSense. Advertisers do not review, approve or influence the content of any report, and the appearance of an advertisement next to a report is not an endorsement of the product or of this site by the advertiser.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top of the page shows the current version. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
